A First Class Performance (written by Andy Page, Badminton England Registered Coach):
Sunday 19th May 2019 represented yet another milestone in the successful growth of Clanfield Sports & Community Centre’s junior badminton squad.
In the first of a series of friendly matches the Clanfield upper junior team produced some literally jaw dropping badminton in their match against the Taro Leisure Centre team.
For all of the players this was their first match experience and they delivered in style! The final score of 14 games all drew the match and only hints at the tenacity and calibre of play.
There were fine demonstrations of technical and tactical skill and court etiquette and a tremendous sense of friendship, fairplay and respect between all of the players.
Everyone who was part of this event either as a player, coach, official, family member or friend had a great time and felt extremely proud of what had been achieved.
Needless to say, but I’ll say it anyway, I’m sure the Friday training sessions will be busy with everyone keen to get on court again.
The younger players who haven’t yet played their match are looking forward to making it happen all over again on 16th June!
